Jury of the Architectural Design II (3rd year) / 2013/2014

The semester focus for third year Architectural Design II students was on investigating and dealing with the terra incognita of architecture and urban design: those unprecedented spaces that emerge as a result of contemporary urbanization; spaces that have evolved over and above the awareness of - and control by – architects and urban designers; spaces that fundamentally differ from the classical European city Riga originated from. Students developed an architecture project from the outside: subject to their own analysis and interpretation, students defined their own site and own building to reconstruct with their individual program.

PARASITE HOUSE / jury of the 1st year final assigment / 2013/2014

1st year students (BD I) in the final jury presented their projects of architectural parasites for the house on the corner of Dzirnavu and Jeruzalemes streets. Along with the studio leader Manten Devriendt and tutors Linda KrūmiņaAndy Rauchut, the projects were reviewed by the guest jury - architect Kelly A. Nelson (DK), architect and researcher Geo Reisinger (DE) and Architecture programme director Oskars Redbergs.

RISEBA FAD students go to TAB

From SEP 5 - 6 RISEBA Faculty of Architecture and Design organizes a trip to the closest international architecture and urban-planning forum Tallinn Architecture Biennale, www.tab.ee. TAB 2013 is organized by the Estonian Centre of Architecture and takes place from Sep 4 till 30 offering exciting exhibition, performance and discussion program with the focus on socialist and modernist spaces and ideas.

Semester start for 1st year students / 2013/2014

Starting the 2013/2014 academic year new RISEBA FAD students were visiting the most significant architecture instutitions in Riga. They met with the experts of architecture to find out about the importance of architect profession. Students met with Mārtiņs Ķibilds, chairman of the board of Latvian Association of Architects, director of Latvian Architecture museum Ilze Martinsone and art historian Ināra Apena. First year students were also greeted by Riga City architect Gvido Princis.
