SLICE OF ARCHITECTURE / exhibition edition: lecture by Dirk Jan Postel “Architecture to survive and to die for” at NLL, March 24, 11.00

As part of BA architecture graduate project exhibition RE-CREATION, on Friday, March 24, 11.00 the public talk by architect Dirk Jan Postel (Kraaijvanger architects, NL) will take place in the atrium of NLL. “Architecture to survive and to die for” will be the talk about the future prospects of architecture – especially for a high level of sustainability combined with high-quality architecture.

Dirk Jan Postel (1957) was educated at the Delft University of Technology. With a keen eye for detail and a thorough knowledge of materials (particularly regarding glass) he has realized various projects like town halls, schools, a glass pavilion, a theater, a traffic center and embassy property. Transparency, spatial relationships and visual lines are essential elements in his design attitude. Dirk Jan Postel is well known for such projects as Museum Voorlinden near The Hague (2016), the Utrecht municipality building (2014) and the Dutch ambassador's residence in Beijing (2007) and many others are in his portfolio.
In 2008 the monograph "DIRK JAN POSTEL: Transparencies" was published (authors: Dirk Jan Postel, Philip Jodidio; Master Architects Series; publisher: Images Publishing). He has been a jury member in several foreign competitions and a visiting professor at TU Delft, Queen's College Belfast, Bath University, Birmingham University, Tsinghua University in Beijing, Qingdao University, Czech Technical University in Prague, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and Kuwait University. Since 2017 Dirk Jan Postel is also a guest professor at RISEBA University MA architecture programme.
