SLICE OF ARCHITECTURE is an open lecture cycle organized by RISEBA University Faculty of Architecture and Design where professionals are invited to talk about the field of architecture, design practices, urbanism, study and practice experience in Latvia and abroad, actual topics in architectural theory and philosophy, and much more.
Welcome to the upcoming lecture-discussion at FAD – “The architectural development of Tel Aviv from the beginning to the White City” by professor Micha Gross from "Bauhaus Center Tel Aviv" on March 1, 13.00.
Micha Gross is born in Zurich, Switzerland, 1959. Studied psychology at the University of Zürich, received Ph.D. at the Technion Haifa, Israel in 1990, from 1990-1994 was a research assistant professor at the Psychological Institute University Zürich. Since 1994 he lives in Tel-Aviv, Israel.
Micha Gross is a co-founder of the "Bauhaus Center Tel Aviv". Since the foundation in 2000 – he is the head of the center which aims for the national and international recognition of the "White City" as a heritage site. The center publishes books about the modernist architecture of Tel Aviv and produces exhibitions.
Gross is a frequent speaker at the events concerning modernist heritage sites. In the last few years he has been guest in Switzerland (the University of Lucern, University of Lugano), he participated at the "Denkmal 2016" in Leipzig, Germany and gave a lecture at the Politecnico di Milano, Italy (Urban and Architectural Heritage: Colonial Historical centers and new-cities foundation). Gross is actively involved in the several research projects in cooperation with different academic institutions.
