RE–CREATION: RISEBA University Architecture programme BA thesis project exhibition at NLL / 2017

On Monday, March 6, 16.00 the opening of the RISEBA University Faculty of Architecture and design (FAD) BA architecture graduate project exhibition RE-CREATION will be held at the National Library of Latvia first floor exhibition hall. Together with the opening the projects catalogue “THE FAD BA Thesis Book. 2017” and the long-awaited school’s yearbook “THE FAD BOOK. The First Five Years of FAD. 2011 – 2016” will be presented.

The 15 exhibited bachelor projects share common urge to revive, recreate and with a new ambition discover the abandoned buildings, industrial heritage building complexes with the lost functional fulfillment, former production or recreation buildings or deficient urban space. The young and emerging architects create the environment for healthy, thoughtful, responsible and slow lifestyle in Liepaja, Riga, Tukums, Jurmala, Aizkraukle, Jelgava, Ludza and Samarkand (UZ).

The exhibition will also display the 21m2 large scale model of 2nd-year architecture student project of RIGA LOWER EAST SIDE (tutors Bart Melort, Ilze Paklone) – a spatial vision for the development and multi-family housing projects for neighborhood in the Eastern part of Riga, railway circle between Streets Lacplesa and A.Deglava.

Exhibition will be accompanied by two special events. On 16 March, 15.00 seminar for architecture students (as well as architecture researchers and professionals) about the use of the library collection will be held. Sign-up will be required. Information will follow. On 24 March, 11.00 everybody is invited to public talk by architect Dirk Jan Postel (”kraaijvanger architects”, NL). The event will be in English.

The exhibition will be open from 7 March to 1 April, 2017
in the 1st floor exhibition hall of the National Library of Latvia (3, Mūkusalas Street)

Saturdays and Sundays: from 10.00 to 17.00
NLL is closed to visitors on the second Monday of each month.
